W.B. Yeats writes about his trip to see Verlaine in Paris.
Yeats’ visit to Paul Verlaine in 1894 had a lasting effect on him. He published his essay about the meeting in the Savoy magazine in 1896. More about this Victorian magazine in my next entry. They conversed in a mixture of broken English and French and you can feel the deep appreciation and warmth that Yeats felt being in the company of this great poet and artist.
